U.S. Pizza Team Acrobatic Trials to be held at NAPICS

February 9-10, 2014, Columbus, OH

COLUMBUS, OH – The U.S. Pizza Team (USPT) will hold its Acrobatic Trials at the 2014 North America Pizza and Ice Cream Show (NAPICS) February 9-10 in Columbus, Ohio. The USPT will be searching for new members to join the squad for future competitions both here and abroad.

Pizza athletes from across the nation will compete for the grand prize of a spot on the U.S. Pizza Team and an all-expense paid trip to Italy to compete in the World Pizza Championships in Parma, Italy, next spring. Pizzaiolos are tested in several skill sets, including Fastest Pizza Maker, Largest Dough Stretch, Box Folding, and the crowd favorite, Freestyle Acrobatics. Competitors are judged by a panel on dexterity, creativity, technical skill and showmanship (such as big tricks and over-the-top stunts).

The U.S. Pizza Team was created in 2000 and consists of expert pizza chefs and dough-spinning acrobatic performers from pizza restaurants across the U.S. The squad won the Team Acrobatics World Championship in Salsomaggiore, Italy, in 2011. With a squad of relatively new faces and some seasoned veterans, they hope to take the gold in a variety of categories across the culinary and acrobatic boards at the World Pizza Championships.

The competitions will be streamed live from Columbus Feb. 9-10 at USPizzaTeam.com and PMQ.com/live with events beginning around 10:30 a.m. EST with awards to follow immediately after the competition. To register for the USPT Acrobatic Trials, please visit USPizzaTeam.com or PMQ.com/trials.
