From Earth to Oven: Plant Ahead Backs the USPT

Performance, taste, and sustainability: the triple threat powering Plant Ahead’s USPT debut.

Move over, tofu blocks and mystery meltables—there’s a new plant-based powerhouse stepping into the pizza arena.Meet Plant Ahead, the U.S. Pizza Team’s newest sponsor, and a brand on a mission to prove that dairy-free doesn’t have to mean “different” in a bad way. As Jeff Strah of Plant Ahead puts it, “We focused solely on what we believe are the three most important factors: Make products that are innovative, that taste good, and that perform in the culinary arena.”

This isn’t about chasing fads or trying to pass off impostor cheese. In fact, Plant Ahead leans into being different—and doing it better. “We are a viable and quality alternative to dairy cheese that delivers on taste and performance,” says Strah, noting they’ve eliminated the dreaded off-flavor and gumminess that plague other substitutes, all while keeping their ingredient list tight, clean, and allergen-free.

But this isn’t just a flavor play—it’s a philosophy. From sourcing up to 68% of their electricity from solar panels to operating daily water waste treatment systems, sustainability is baked right into Plant Ahead’s DNA. As Strah explains, “Respect as well as the safekeeping towards the environment is always a priority for the company.”

The pizza world is their biggest growth frontier, and they’re not shy about it. “Build a great dairy free pizza and they will come (and let others know)!” Strah says. With mozzarella, Parmesan, and fresh mozz in their lineup, Plant Ahead is courting everyone from vegan purists to lactose-intolerant customers, and they’re quick to point out that this audience—though just 20% of the population—is “the most vocal group and drive decision making.”

So why join forces with the U.S. Pizza Team? Strah puts it simply: “The key to any relationship or team is to partner with diverse, skilled, educated, passionate, and creative individuals… The U.S. Pizza Team is known for their LOVE of the industry.” While plant-based might not be “traditional” in pizza circles, the category is growing year over year—and Plant Ahead wants to be there with master pizzaiolos shaping how it evolves.

And if you think this is just about making a token vegan pie to keep the Yelp reviews friendly, think again. Strah challenges operators to offer something they can be proud of and actively promote during key months like Veganuary and National Lactose Free Month. Because, in his words, “Plant-based pizza can be great, and Plant Ahead can be the brand of performance and choice. At some point, we would love to be considered the Grande or Galbani of plant-based cheese.”

Looks like the future of cheese might just be greener—and a whole lot tastier.
