Pizzaioli from across the country head to the West Coast U.S. Pizza Cup!

 


The second West Coast Pizza Cup combines sun, surf and great ‘za to crown 2 new Pizza Champions

Oceanside, CA. August 27, 2018 — Fourteen pizzaioli will head like a flock of seagulls to Oceanside, CA. to compete in the 2018 West Coast U.S. Pizza Cup August 27-28. Dominic’s Italian Restaurant and the U.S Pizza Team will be hosting the nations top pizza makers in both Classico (Non-Traditional) and Pizza in the Pan events. Grand prizes include spots on the U.S. Pizza Team as Premiere Members, as well as trips to the World Pizza Championships in Parma, Italy in April of 2019.

U.S. Pizza Team Premiere member Tore Trupiano, co-owner of Dominic’s Italian Restaurant in Oceanside, CA. says “Being a member of this team has afforded us numerous opportunities, and we definitely want to pass that along to the next generation of great pizza makers. This is how the industry grows, the exchange of ideas”.

Events for the West Coast Pizza Cup will be the Classico division, which has no restrictions on sauce or toppings, but must be round, and cooked on a screen or on the stone. The Pan division will also have no sauce or topping restrictions, but must be made in a pan ranging from deep dish to Grandma, and can be any shape under the sun. Each of these events is designed to better prepare the winner for the competition in Italy. Judging is based solely on taste and bake.
